CINEMA41 is a pop-up movie theatre with only one seat. During six months CINEMA41 was situated in a decorated micro-space in a housing complex somewhere in downtown Amsterdam.

Only people who made an online reservation were provided with the address of the one person cinema. Over six months a fresh programme was offered listing semi-art movies and documentaries with a specific controversial and/or psychedelical character. Due to the programme and the very intense and exiting atmosphere, watching a movie in CINEMA41 brought a unique experience for its visitors. Our aim was to examine the opportunities of the 'empty city' and for this particular project to discuss the relation of public and private atmospheres.
